Hello everyone! My name is Jennifer and I am a die hard LuLaRoe addict and LuLaRoe fashion consultant. Before you read any further I want to promise you this is NOT a business plug! It’s just a huge part of my life and one of the many things I am truly grateful for.
I’m a 31 year old work at home mom currently living in Eagle Mountain, Utah. I am incredibly blessed and tremendously happy with my life but it wasn’t always like this. I had a very impoverished and unhappy childhood. My stepmother was extremely abusive to me and would often punish me by withholding food. I was sent to school with no breakfast, I didn’t have money for lunch, and dinner was hit or miss depending on her mood. My family was uneducated and battled addictions throughout life. From a very early age I knew I wanted more for myself. The day after I graduated highschool I moved in with my Aunt who took me under her wing. Due to her love and generosity I was able to change my life. I even received a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health and graduated Magna Cum Laude. Even though I had found peace and happiness I was still battling an inner demon with food. I discovered once I got out that I could eat whatever and whenever I wanted. I started to develop some seriously unhealthy eating habits which led to a food disorder. I would binge and horde food whenever I could. In just a year I had gained 45 pounds. It was at that point I decided to get help. With therapy and the support of my dear husband I was able to start facing my demons. I still struggled and within the span of a few more years I had gained a total of 95 pounds. At my heaviest, I got in touch with a therapist who specialized in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which targets people with PTSD and allows them to reprocess memories in a healthier way. At that point I considered myself “cured” but now I had to face the fact that I was physically an entirely different person.
As a plus size woman, I had a difficult time finding clothes that fit or clothes that flattered my body. I was often torn between clothes that fit OR clothes that looked good. All the cute clothes only went up to size 12 and I was a size 20/22. I covered my body in hideous print or colors just because they fit. As soon as I got home, I would throw on my sweatpants so I could move comfortably. My depression and confidence was at an all time low. I had nothing to wear out on a date, nothing to wear to church, and nothing besides my sweatpants to wear to the grocery store. It was during this time, one of my friends invited me to a LuLaRoe facebook page. I laughed because plus size women can’t wear leggings right? I stayed in the group because the games were fun and I loved looking at all the prints I could never wear. Eventually I won a free pair of leggings. I was super hesitant to try them but they were free! If anything, I would just wear them around the house. I received my leggings in the mail and I couldn’t wait to try them on! I couldn’t believe how comfortable and flattering they were! I bought a tunic top to go with them and it quickly became my favorite outfit! I could bend over, move, and play with my kids without feeling restricted or uncovered. I was hooked. I slowly grew my collection until I didn’t need pants anymore! I moved on to dresses so I could be fashionable and comfortable at church. The clothes are flattering on all body types! My favorite part about LuLaRoe is not only do the clothes fit, but they are beautiful! I can wear prints and design outfits that I actually LOVE and want to wear! It may sound cliche, but it changed my life! My heart is so full of gratitude for this company that brought back my confidence and made me feel like more than just a stay at home mom in her sweatpants. I love waking up and getting dressed for the day. In my world, you don’t look forward to putting on your pajamas because your clothes are just more comfortable! I grew to love this company so much that I just had to be a part of it. On March 20th, 2017 I filled out the paperwork to become a LuLaRoe fashion consultant. I want to empower women and make them feel confident and sexy! Everybody deserves to feel good about themselves and I’m grateful that now I can be a part of that!
